Lauren Karnitz

A career change brought Lauren Karnitz back to the art world. In 2006, while finishing her Fine Arts degree at UT, she opened Three Flights Up Gallery in downtown Knoxville, featuring local, emerging artists in First Friday group shows. These days Lauren continues her studio work while raising her two boys. Lauren uses rich color, organic forms and gesture to explore the place where abstraction and recognition collide. Her images ask the viewer to “spend time with them in wonder, as a child might inspect the contents of a drawer and how the pieces work together.”
